According to our sources, Chelsea will complete the signing of Liverpool’s Fernando Torres after the end of the World Cup. The Spain striker has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for several months now but with the departure of Rafa Benitez from Anfield – the man who first brought Torres to England - the player now has no ties to the Reds.
With Spain playing Germany in the World Cup Semi-Final this evening, the news concerning the move for Torres will be officially announced once his country’s participation in the tournament has finished.
Although there has been no word about the fee that Chelsea will pay for the Spaniard’s services, it is expected that Chelsea will break their transfer record to sign the striker.
The signing of Torres comes after Chelsea signed his Anfield team mate, the Israeli midfielder Yossi Benayoun for 5m.
